A place in the sun

If I wonder where my cat is, I don't need to look any farther than the nearest pool of sunlight. And there she is.

I am putting my house back together after the great bedbug massacre; mostly I was able to keep stuff that I really liked. I don't know where I got this crystal, it may have been a gift from a child. I caught it in the sun from the window.

Another item I was able to keep is this sampler I made when I was five. I remember making it and not minding although it is not something I would have a five-year-old do. It's a puzzle to me and yet I treasure it. I was afraid it would have to be washed, which would have destroyed it, but all I had to do was put it by itself in an empty drawer when they heated the house.

How I managed to hang on to it for 57 years is also a mystery. It probably was in my parents' house until my 30's when I took many of my old belongings to my own house. It would have been my mother who would have kept it when so many of my childhood things were thrown out.

The leaf rakers are here to get the leaves off the lawn, or at least some of the leaves off some of the lawn. They have their work cut out for them. They really need supervision so I guess I will go and see how they are carrying on.

  1. We have two cats. One has the sun monopoly [these two are not of a friendly nature toward each other]. The other has the higher ground. Just two more points of contention in their long list they keep polished and ready for any occasion to spit and snarl. Silly cats. They'd be so bored w/o all the contention. The only thing they share is their disdain for the dog who more than gets even by being allowed on the couch where they are not.

I have crystals on my window sills. I love the play of light off their facets.

It looks and sounds as though you are calming back into normalcy. Would you care for a visit from the beagle after she's been rolling on one of the game trails? I mean just for fun. LoL

    1. My husband loves dogs and would probably play with it. Especially if it liked water after rolling on the game trails. My cat would hide.

I am calming back to normalcy. Ten days bug and bite free. I'm told that is the first milestone. 55 days is the next.

  2. I already guessed from previous photos that Honey is a 'sun-cat' :-)) She looks quite comfy there.

Carefully-placed crystals are great for creating little rainbows of colour on walls and ceiling.

Great to hear you've reached the first 'big-free milestone' !!!

If you want a smile, have a LOOK AT THIS

    1. Thank you! My brother was a boring playmate and we weren't allowed out much due to a brook near our house that my family worried we would drown in. So I suppose doing the sampler was a nice pastime and kept my parents out of my hair.

  4. *Sigh* I think Maman threw my embroidery away as soon as I finished it. I was good at it, but she didn't like me much. ;) Can't say I blame her, lol... I was a little know-it-all jerk.

I love your pics of Honey in the sun!

    Bug FREE! YAY!

I have a large collection of crystals and geodes. I love the way they sparkle even when covered with dust - which mine frequently are. Between cat litter, my mineral makeup and baby powder AND my lousy housekeeping, lol... I have some beautiful smoky ended crystals I got while in the local gem and mineral society. We had silent auctions to raise money for the club several times and those crystals were one of my lucky dips. Another was a blue and white stripey stone, the name of which escapes me, but it's gorgeous. I love rocks. Your crystal looks as if it was once part of a huge cluster... gorgeous!

  5. Know-it- all little kids are usually intelligent cherubs.

When I was cleaning I found several crystals covered in dust and (of course) cat hair. Wasn't that a job to get them all cleaned off. People who have clean houses aren't spending enough time on the computer or at coffee houses.

  6. Did the bedbugs come from staying at an infested hotel? I'm so paranoid about the buggers! And I'll bet the treatment isn't cheap!

    1. Probably not. They probably came from visiting a friend who had them and thought he was rid of them but was not. In the US, they are epidemic in apartment buildings and college dorms.

  8. What a great treasure to have and so happy for you that you were able to keep it!! Glad the first milestone has come and gone and have fingers crossed that the next one will too. :) P.S. Sugar is the first cat I have had that doesn't like laying in the sun.
